PORTLAND, Tenn. (WSMV) - Update: At least one person is dead after a crash involving a train and a car in Portland on Friday, according to officials.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol along with other agencies responded to a serious crash in the area of Butler Road and Fountain Head Road.

Earlier: Officials are investigating a crash involving a train and car in Portland on Friday.

Officials in Sumner County confirmed to WSMV4 that the crash occurred at the city-county line.

“The road is currently closed due to a serious accident at Butler Rd and the train tracks just south of Fountain Head Rd. Please plan to use an alternate route until further notice. Stay safe and avoid the area to allow emergency services to manage the situation efficiently,” the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office reports.

No other information has been released at this time.
