October’s lack of rain sinks some of the Midstate into a deeper drought
However, there are several days of rain expected in this 7-day forecast.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - During the month of October, Nashville only saw .49 inches of rain.
That’s almost three inches less than the usual precipitation that we normally see in the entire month. But we are making up for lost time.
Over the last few days, Nashville and the surrounding areas of Middle Tennessee have gotten some off and on rain fall. However, the on-going drought has gotten worse in some areas of the Midstate, especially the southern tier closer to the Alabama state line. Cities like Lewisburg, Shelbyville, Pulaski and Fayetteville are now in an Extreme drought. Meanwhile, parts of Nashville, Murfreesboro, Fairview, Cookeville and Celina are in a Moderate drought.
The state drought map is issued every Thursday. With more rain expected today and through the weekend, hopefully the drought conditions will improve in the needed areas.
