Moms call for illegal daycare owner’s arrest following operator’s child rape charges
The owner continued operating the daycare after her husband, the operator, was arrested and charged with child rape.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - After a daycare operator accused of sexually abusing children was arrested, a group of mothers is now calling for the arrest of the owner who ran the unlicensed childcare center.
On Dec. 5, police arrested 55-year-old Imran Malik. Police said Malik is accused of raping at least two girls at the daycare over a four-year period.
Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) records showed that Molly Sinclair, Malik’s wife, had been notified 10 times in nearly a decade to shut down. DHS records show she was operating illegally by watching 22 children at a time out of her home. Anyone providing care to five or more unrelated children must be licensed through the state of Tennessee, according to the DHS website.
A petition filed by DHS said Sinclair had been operating an unlicensed daycare out of her home on Ash Grove Drive as far back as 2015.
“She said that she was going to be licensed,” one of the mothers told WSMV4.
Three mothers, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to WSMV about why they are calling for the arrest of Sinclair.
“We were duped,” one of the mothers said. “Every single one of us thought she cared for us and our children.”
One of the moms said Sinclair lied about Malik’s arrest.
“On Dec. 5, Miss Molly had called and said that Mr. Ron was in the hospital, and I said, ‘Oh, are you still available for me to bring my child over?’ and she said, ‘Oh, yes sweetie,” one of the moms said.
That’s the day officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department arrested Malik on 26 charges ranging from child rape to child abuse.
When one of the mothers heard about the arrest, she said her mouth dropped.
“My child was always attached to Mr. Ron and loved Mr. Ron and the first thing that went through my head was, ‘Did he touch my child?’” the mother said.

A court document obtained by WSMV4 indicates Sinclair signed a plea deal agreeing to stop watching children in her home or any home with her name on the lease on Nov. 5.
“The last time she watched my child was Dec. 4,” one mother said.
Instead of shutting down the daycare, Sinclair started funneling children into Malik’s sister’s home next door, according to DHS records.
Both the Tennessee Department of Human Services and Sinclair’s lawyer were asked to clarify if Sinclair was in violation of her plea deal, however, neither party responded with answers.
Now, parents, including a woman who said her daughter was sexually, emotionally and physically abused by Malik for more than four years, want Sinclair to face charges.
“I’m just hoping and praying that we all hear that she has been arrested any day soon so we can be thankful that both of the monsters are off of the streets,” the mother said.
