Tennessee whiskey company to release barrels for good cause
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association’s Tennessee chapter.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Old Dominick Distillery is releasing three barrels of its Tennessee whiskey statewide on June 20, in support of the Alzheimer’s Association and The Longest Day.
Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville will each receive a barrel with proceeds of the bottle sales going toward the association’s vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia-related illnesses.
One of the association’s top national fundraisers, Wes Milligan, founder of Bourbon BarrALZ, is also once again teaming up with Old Dominick after the success of last year’s The Longest Day bottle release in Memphis that raised more than $11,000.
“We are so thankful for Old Dominick and their support to ENDALZ,” Milligan said. “Not only did Old Dominick triple its barrel commitment to us, but they are also helping the thousands of Tennesseans affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia who need our resources and support.”
June 20 is known as The Longest Day because it is the summer solstice or the day with the most light.
On June 20, people from across the world will fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s through a fundraising activity of their choice.
Old Dominick owner Chris Canale and his team did not hesitate to team up again in support of this fight in West, Middle, and East Tennessee.
“Every bottle has a story,” says Clark Schifani, Director of Sales for Old Dominick, “just as every person impacted by Alzheimer’s or dementia has theirs. Good times shared with family and friends make the best stories and we hope to be a part of your future stories.”
Milligan is co-hosting a bottle release party at Old Dominick (305 South Front St., Memphis, 38103), on Thursday, June 20, from 5-8 p.m.
The distillery event will feature food from The Arcade Restaurant, courtesy of owner Jeff Zepatos, a silent auction with bourbon and whiskey, and free distillery tours.
Milligan is very thankful for the support of Canale, Clark Schifani and so many more at Old Dominick.
Those who cannot attend the event can still donate here.
Each person who purchases a bottle at the distillery will also receive a token for a free drink at the event upstairs.
The Nashville and Knoxville locations will host a tasting where attendees can sample all three barrels.
Residents of Nashville and Knoxville can attend tastings on June 20 (Nashville) and June 22 (Knoxville) and can purchase the bottles at these locations:
- Nashville – Brinkmann’s Wine and Spirits (127 Franklin Road, Brentwood, 37027)
- Knoxville – Dixie Lee Wines & Liquors (13044 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, 37934)
Andy Taylor, co-owner of Dixie Lee Wine & Liquors, says, “We have had too many family, friends, and customers affected by Alzheimer’s throughout the years, to not help in ways we uniquely can, to raise money and awareness to end to this terrible disease.”
There will be more than 150 bottles available for purchase at each location, with a generous portion of each bottle benefitting the Alzheimer’s Association.
