NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - You might love them.

You might hate them.

Regardless, if you’ve driven through Nashville recently, you’ve likely noticed the speed cushions.

They’re designed to slow drivers down, but we wanted to know how the speed cushions impact emergency responders who need to get to their destinations as quickly as possible.

“If we hit that bump, it‘s going to throw them around. It’s going to throw the patient around,” said Vol State paramedic instructor Cory Gibson. “They come up sometimes overnight and they don’t send us out any kid of warning about them.”

Emergency responders showed WSMV4 firsthand how speed cushions are impacting them and their patients.
