During the shooting, three suspects ran in another direction, police said.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting after a 15-year-old girl was shot multiple times.
According to police, 15-year-old Genesis Sarahi Medina Gonzales was brought to Southern Hills Medical Center with multiple gun shot wounds.
Police spoke with the male who drove her to the hospital. He said Gonzales asked him earlier in the day to pick her up from Smith Springs Park.
When he arrived at the park, he saw Gonzales with two males and a female. He got out to meet Gonzales and asked if she was ready to leave.
The driver said he then heard gunshots as he and Gonzales were walking towards his car. He told officers the three suspects ran in another direction.
Gonzales told the driver she had been shot, and he drove her to Southern Hills.
She was then transported to Vanderbilt Pediatrics where she later died.
Police said Gonzales has a runaway history in Nashville and was recently reported as a runaway out of Arkansas by her mother.
“Anyone with information on this fatal shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463,” police said.
